Vaikom is Famous for its Mahadeva Temple and the famous Satyagraha
Movement. It is located at a distance of 33km south of Cochin
and 40km north of Kottayam on the railroad between Ernakulam
and Tiruvanandapuram. To the South is Kottayam thaluk, to the
east is Meenachil thaluk. To the north is Ernakulam district(Kanayanur
Taluk and Muvattupuzha taluk) and to the west is Shertalai taluk.
The scenic Vembanad Lake lies to the west of Vaikom.
